Di­rect­ing COUN­TRY LIFE

ANE TREAYS, who di­rected the ac­claimed three-part BBC doc­u­men­tary on COUN­TRY LIFE, Land of Hope and Glory: Bri­tish Coun­try Life, will talk about her ex­pe­ri­ence of trail­ing staff and un­cov­er­ing sto­ries, such as that of farmer Mau­rice Durban, who talked openly about los­ing his Guernsey herd to bovine TB. Miss Treays will be speak­ing at Filleigh Vil­lage Hall, north Devon, on Oc­to­ber 7 for the Two Moors Fes­ti­val. This was set up in 2001 to cheer an area dev­as­tated by foot-and-mouth and takes place in churches across Ex­moor and Dart­moor, plus Ex­eter Cathe­dral, on Oc­to­ber 22–29 and the box of­fice is now open (www.thet­wom­oors­fes­ti­val.co.uk; 01392 665885). High­lights in­clude pi­anist Pe­ter Dono­hoe, so­prano Lucy Crowe and trum­peter Ali­son Bal­som, plus jazz mu­si­cian Jac­qui Dankworth in Shake­speare and all that Jazz.
