6.30pm

Country Life Every Week - - Opinion -

I maintain that the station’s holy of holies is the 6.30pm comedy slot. For this, I actually dismount from the tractor—i once reversed into the barn wall because I was laughing so hard at Just a Minute. No one, but no one, does comedy better than Radio 4. As ultimate proof, M’lud, I offer spoof panel show I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue. Jack Dee’s double entrendres about fictional nymphomaniac score-girl Samantha are, mostly, too politically incorrect to mention: ‘Samantha tells me it’s time to let her whippet out.’ And what else but Cabin Pressure, the sitcom about the very budget airline MJN Air, could get the entire family round a table crying with laughter.
