Bookshelf mystery solved

-

ARY MIERS’S excellent feature on Arisaig House (August 24) has possibly solved a mystery for me. My grandmother, who was the proprietor of Arisaig Hotel from about 1919 to 1949, had a small ‘bookshelf’ (right), which I inherited.

However, I have realised this was actually a corner shelf and have been told that it had been carved by a ‘Mr Gibson’ who lived at Woodend, the last house before the entrance to Larachmhor Gardens. I wonder if this was also a product of either John Macqueen or ‘Mr Gibson’. Margaret Campbell, Edinburgh
