ALEXANDER CRESWELL, the artist famed for his paintings of Windsor Castle, commissioned by the Royal Collection, has captured the beauty and tranquility of the Surrey Hills on a rather unusual canvas—a cow. One side of Frontier Cow shows sunset over the Albury Valley, the other an urban skyline.
The life-size artwork is one of 19 cows, each by a different artist, which will be auctioned tomorrow at a gala dinner at Hampton Court to raise funds for Surrey Hills Trust and a number of other charities. Estimated at £10,000– £25,000, it is sponsored by The Duke of Northumberland and the Albury estate and half the proceeds of this particular lot (No 14) will go to Shooting Star Chase hospice.
