FROM Fe­bru­ary 1 to Novem­ber 30, 2017, fish­er­men across the UK can raise money in sup­port of Marie Curie and in as­so­ci­a­tion with Sav­ills. Lady Stevens, whose late hus­band was a keen fish­er­man, is the driv­ing force be­hind Cast­ing for a Cause. ‘Dur­ing a sad 2014, when I lost two peo­ple very dear to me, I ex­pe­ri­enced how dif­fi­cult it was to ob­tain a Marie Curie nurse,’ she ex­plains. ‘There just aren’t enough nurses to help ev­ery­one who needs them. Money raised will help Marie Curie ful­fil their aim of car­ing for more peo­ple of all ages and from all walks of life with ter­mi­nal ill­nesses in their own homes.’

All char­ity-minded fish­er­men have to do is ei­ther host a com­pe­ti­tion on their beat or or­gan­ise a fundrais­ing event.
