Let’s get to the point
IN fact, it is Dr Arthur Smith who has chosen to miss my points (Letters, November 2 and 16)—my comment about Hinkley was financial, not technical. Rather than simply buying foreign expertise outright, we appear to have sold most of the project—and much of its post-completion control—to French and Chinese contractors and investors. This may have reduced the short-term outlay, but my second point was that the cash ‘saved’ is to be squandered on the vanity project HS2, an unworthy recipient.
