This jazzy bee­tle, with elec­tric-blue-green wing cas­ings and a bright-or­ange head, is a real 007 of a bug, equipped with its very own ex­plod­ing chem­i­cal bomb that’s launched and di­rected from its flex­i­ble ab­domen to de­ter any un­wanted at­ten­tion. It’s ex­tremely rare and once thought to be on the verge of ex­tinc­tion, but a colony was re­dis­cov­ered on a brown­field site in Lon­don
