The View from Here: Land­scape Pho­tog­ra­phy from the Collection of the Na­tional Gal­leries of Scot­land is at the Scot­tish Na­tional Por­trait Gallery, 1 Queen Street, Ed­in­burgh un­til April 30 (0131 624 6200; www.na­tion­al­gal­leries.org). Chart­ing the his­tory of land­scape pho­tog­ra­phy from the 1840s to the present day, it ex­plores the pro­cesses used by pho­tog­ra­phers over the cen­turies (Aerial view of Ed­in­burgh by Al­fred G. The Rad­i­cal Eye: Mod­ernist Pho­tog­ra­phy from the Sir El­ton John Collection is at Tate Mod­ern, Switch House, Bank­side, Lon­don SE1 un­til May 7 (020— 7887 8888; www.tate.org.uk). An un­ri­valled se­lec­tion of clas­sic Mod­ernist im­ages from the 1920s to the 1950s. Artists in­clude Man Ray, Alek­sandr Rod­chenko, An­dré Kertész and Dorothea Lange.

Tay­lor Wess­ing Pho­to­graphic Por­trait Prize is at the Na­tional Por­trait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, Lon­don WC2 un­til Fe­bru­ary 26 (www.npg.org.uk; 020— 7306 0055) The 57 works on show fea­ture all the prize win­ners of the lead­ing in­ter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion, which cel­e­brates and pro­motes the very best in con­tem­po­rary por­trait pho­tog­ra­phy from around the world.
