What to see this week: Photography
The View from Here: Landscape Photography from the Collection of the National Galleries of Scotland is at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, 1 Queen Street, Edinburgh until April 30 (0131 624 6200; www.nationalgalleries.org). Charting the history of landscape photography from the 1840s to the present day, it explores the processes used by photographers over the centuries (Aerial view of Edinburgh by Alfred G. The Radical Eye: Modernist Photography from the Sir Elton John Collection is at Tate Modern, Switch House, Bankside, London SE1 until May 7 (020— 7887 8888; www.tate.org.uk). An unrivalled selection of classic Modernist images from the 1920s to the 1950s. Artists include Man Ray, Aleksandr Rodchenko, André Kertész and Dorothea Lange.
Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize is at the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, London WC2 until February 26 (www.npg.org.uk; 020— 7306 0055) The 57 works on show feature all the prize winners of the leading international competition, which celebrates and promotes the very best in contemporary portrait photography from around the world.
