Postcard from a faraway letterbox

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

OUR letterbox heritage isn’t just confined to the UK (‘Wait a minute Mr Postman’, December 7). Here in Cyprus, we still have British letterboxes on both sides of this divided island. They are all now painted yellow, the last red survivor having disappeared a couple of years ago from the old town in Paphos. Most have the royal cipher covered by the new Cypriot national crests, but not this fine fellow in Kyrenia—another post-imperial legacy. Howard Freeman, Paphos, Cyprus
