What to see this week: gallery openings
A new permanent gallery dedicated to the work of John Piper (1903–92) has opened at the River and Rowing Museum (01491 415600; www.rrm.co.uk) in his former home town of Henley-on-thames, Oxfordshire. It reflects the full diversity of his artistic output, including painting, stained glass and ceramics, and combines a permanent display with a turnover of loans from institutions and private collections.
On January 13, the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, Canonbury Square, London N1 (www.estorickcollection.com; 020–7704 9522), also reopens after a fivemonth refurbishment.
