Sweet memories

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

THE feature about confectionery (February 1) transported me back to my early schooldays at a prep school called Crow Hall in Downham Market, Norfolk. Every Monday, my sister and I, along with about 12 other weekly boarders, had to tip a small bag of treasured sweets into a large jar for everyone to share. My sister always had chocolate eclairs and I had Merry Maids, but, sadly, we didn’t always manage to eat our own choice when they were shared round after supper. The jar was always empty on a Monday morning, so I can only think the headmaster and his wife consumed the balance when we’d all gone home for the weekend. Mary Rudd, by email
