EVERGREENS clipped and trimmed in var­i­ous fan­tas­tic shapes are to be seen in many of our vil­lages. In the pho­to­graph I send it is made to form a reg­u­lar arch over the front gate. This fine arch is to be found in the pic­turesque lit­tle main street of Lo­gieal­mond in Perthshire—the ‘Drum­tochty’ of Ian Maclaren fame. One might al­most imag­ine the old lady at the gate anx­iously look­ing out for the much-loved ‘Doc­tor of the old school’ on his white mare Jess.—d. Hutchin­son
