Horticultural aide memoire Divide hostas
The hosta looks an impossible thing to divide, but, in fact, it’s easy. Now is the hour. Remove a plant bodily from the ground and decide how much you want. A mature plant can readily spare a portion. With a big knife or a spade, slice neatly through the crown to the base, ensuring you have some pointy crowns and their roots. It seems crude, but it works. Return the stock plant to its home with a bit of titivating and replant the division in its intended location. Both will grow away without a care and you will be vindicated.
