IWONDER if any of your numerous readers can tell me if they have any experience of witches within the last few years? In my own village, there lived a woman who bore the reputation of being a witch. She had a grandson who was always in trouble, but she had the power of warning the lad of any danger by tapping her stick upon the ground. Sometimes she turned him into a black hare, we were told. She also had the power of refusing to allow one who had offended her to die and was a very real terror to the village folk.—t.
