Prick out seedlings

Country Life Every Week - - In The Garden - SCD

All those seeds sown with optimism will now be through and they must be pricked out for growing on. Fill a seed tray with suitable compost, level it and firm the compost evenly. Mark out five points along the short side and eight lengthwise and start. Use a tool to loosen the seedlings from below, then lift each out by a cotyledon. Make a hole according to your pattern and lower each seedling in up to the cotyledons. Tap the tray on the bench, label and set aside for watering.
