THIS year, Tractor Fest, the largest annual vintage-tractor festival, celebrates its 10th anniversary and the theme for the landmark show, on June 10–11, is the legacy of Henry Ford, who also marks an anniversary; it’s 100 years since Ford began the production of Fordson tractors, which transformed UK agriculture at a time when our farming manpower was engaged on the Western Front. At Newby Hall, North Yorkshire, the festival is organised by the Yorkshire Vintage Association and sponsored by Cheffins auctioneers. There will be 1,500 exhibits of not only vintage tractors, but also engines, commercial vehicles, cars and motorcycles from around the UK and Europe and the event will culminate in the ever-popular March of the Tractors through Ripon town centre. Adults £11.50, children £8.50, free for the under-fours— tickets include entry to the garden and adventure playground. Visit www.newbyhall.com/events/tractor-fest-2017 or telephone 01423 322583.
