Dancing on at Annabel’s

Country Life Every Week - - Town & Country -

NIGHT owls of a certain age will feel nostalgic at the news that Annabel’s, the Berkeley Square, W1, nightclub founded in 1963 by Mark Birley and named after his wife, is moving. However, it’s only going to be two doors away (at No 46) from the original, which was frequented by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, The Queen, Ella Fitzgerald and the Rolling Stones, and will be much bigger, spread over four floors, with 24-hour dining, a cigar salon, terrace restaurant, spa and basement nightclub.

The redesign, in Rococo style, is being overseen by the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, responsible for The Ivy. Rules remain the same: gentlemen must keep their jackets on, mobile devices should be left in the cloakroom and leather, suede and cowboy boots are frowned upon.
