In 1975, Stan­ley Stu­dios, a block of twelve 19th Cen­tury pur­pose built artist stu­dios in Chelsea, were saved from de­mo­li­tion by the artist and an­tique dealer Peter Collins. Peter and his wife Georgette con­verted the stu­dios into a sin­gle res­i­dence and over the next two decades filled the cav­ernous spa­ces with a fine col­lec­tion of an­tique fur­ni­ture, cu­rios, sculp­ture in­clud­ing works by Elis­a­beth Frink and a vast quan­tity of paint­ings.
