The NFU is urging councillors, surveyors, land agents and planners, as well as farmers, to take part in a survey on the planning-application process in england. The information will be used for NFU lobbying and will be included as part of the Government’s Rural Planning Review and housing White Paper.

‘From farm shops to polytunnels, and farm reservoirs to changing use of agricultural buildings, planning regulations continue to be a major headache to our members, adding unnecessary burden and costs, which can be a barrier to business growth,’ explains NFU vice president Guy Smith. ‘Ultimately, the system should enable businesses to be viable and vibrant, ready to pass on to future generations.’
