● Have things that please you. At the end of the day, it’s your gar­den and you can do what you like as long as you’re happy. Don’t be afraid to ex­per­i­ment—plants can be moved quite eas­ily, so put them in and see if they work ● Mine is a work­ing gar­den where things can de­velop, but I’ve cre­ated dif­fer­ent ar­eas in which we can sit, eat and enjoy a sun­downer ● I’m learn­ing so much my­self all the time. I read a lot, visit other gar­dens and pick the brains of those more hor­ti­cul­tur­ally ex­pe­ri­enced than me. I try to fol­low Fer­gus Gar­rett’s ad­vice and reg­u­larly look ‘prop­erly’ at my gar­den and as­sess what’s good and what’s not. It’s a very use­ful ex­er­cise
