Great eccentric? Great gardener

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

SIR GEORGE SITWELL (right) may have been an eccentric (Town & Country Notebook, May 3), but his On the Making of Gardens is, without doubt, one of the great gardening books in literature. He conveyed that a successful garden needs charm to work for every day of the year; plants are the decoration. Timothy Clark, Cambridgeshire
