Bring in the big guns
SHOOT like a god, or a king, at least. Holt’s Auctioneers, London W6, has an ‘exceptionally fine’ 18-bore percussion rifle built for George IV. Signed and made in about 1825, it has an octagonal barrel, floral engraving, a dolphin-head hammer, walnut stock, a velvet cheek-piece and a gold escutcheon engraved with the King’s monogram. It will go under the hammer on June 22 and is estimated at £3,500– £5,000 (www.holtsauctioneers.com).
