AN­SON’ was orig­i­nally pre­sented to the ‘An­son’ Bat­tal­ion 2nd Royal Naval Bri­gade as a mas­cot and sub­se­quently went with the Bri­gade to An­twerp. Af­ter An­twerp he went to Egypt and af­ter­wards landed with the men on ‘W’ Beach and saw most of the fight­ing, be­ing in the trenches all the time. He has of­ten been har­nessed to ma­chine guns to as­sist in the haulage. Re­turn­ing to Eng­land, he was pre­sented to one of H. M. ships and has made him­self a great favourite with the ship’s com­pany.—h. A. Gauld, R.N.R.
