ANSON’ was originally presented to the ‘Anson’ Battalion 2nd Royal Naval Brigade as a mascot and subsequently went with the Brigade to Antwerp. After Antwerp he went to Egypt and afterwards landed with the men on ‘W’ Beach and saw most of the fighting, being in the trenches all the time. He has often been harnessed to machine guns to assist in the haulage. Returning to England, he was presented to one of H. M. ships and has made himself a great favourite with the ship’s company.—h.
