Motorail memories

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

YOUR letter about Motorail (May 31) brought back lovely memories. Forty years ago, when our four boys were considerably younger than they are now, over a period of eight years, we took the Motorail from Olympia to Glenfinnan. The train always left first to come back and collect the cars, which caused great consternation in case it was going without us. One year, the Royal Train was waiting to go into a siding and the porter let us go to have a look, which I’m sure wasn’t allowed. We would wake crossing Rannoch Moor, before going into the station hotel on our arrival to have a large breakfast. Frances Presley, by email
