Honouring our heroes
IN your fascinating article ‘Last man standing’ (July 5), describing the career of Squadron Leader George ‘Johnny’ Johnson (right), the last surviving British Dambuster, it mentions that he was awarded an MBE in this year’s Queen’s birthday honours list. Is an MBE really the best we can do for such an amazing war hero?
