(Cepaea hort­en­sis) A hand­some crea­ture, but no friend of the gardener due to its taste for let­tuce and other ten­der plants. The name comes from the dis­tinc­tive white lip sur­round­ing the oval mouth. Typ­i­cally, it has five bands, but some in­di­vid­u­als have fewer and some none at all
