Horticultural aide memoire Take cuttings of rosemary
This is a good time of year to take rosemary cuttings. Set out early in the morning. Cut off sideshoots that don’t bear flowers. Drop them into a plastic bag. Hasten to the potting bench. Fill a pot with freedraining compost. Take each cutting and strip off the lower leaves. Shorten the cutting to 4in or so with a clean, sharp knife. Push the cuttings straight into the compost around the rim of the pot. Label and date. Water and put the plastic bag over the pot. Put it somewhere it will get plenty of light, but not direct sunlight.
