ANEW, eth­i­cal Bri­tish gin has won Gold at the In­ter­na­tional Wine & Spirit Com­pe­ti­tion, just four months af­ter launch­ing. Hand­crafted in small batches at the Black­down Dis­tillery in West Sus­sex, One Gin con­tains nine botan­i­cals from around the world and one lo­cal one—fresh sage from a nearby for­est. It makes an ex­cel­lent gin and tonic, com­ple­mented by a slice of ap­ple. It’s pro­duced by eth­i­cal brand One Drinks, which sells a num­ber of juices and botan­i­cally in­fused spring wa­ter and whose prof­its sus­tain wa­ter projects in Africa.
