Use organic matter

Country Life Every Week - - In The Garden -

All year, you have been diligently building up your supplies of organic matter for the garden by despatching all leaves and shoots to a well-regulated compost heap and curating a succession of neat manure heaps. Now the stuff is required, it’s time to make it ready for use. Both types are ready when a spade chops cleanly through it. The compost will require shredding before use. Use a mechanical shredder to pour it out onto a sheet and lead it away to the kitchen garden or the new border as required. It’s time for the return on your investment.
