On the right tracks

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

AS a recent convert to your excellent magazine and as a member of the Salisbury and South Wilts Railway Society, I was delighted to see The Jacobite steam locomotive on the front cover. Although I can’t claim that Salisbury might be considered to fit your headline description of Britain’s best stations, we are told that a new station is to be built at Wilton, perhaps by 2020— a somewhat surprising turn of events post-beeching. Can we hope that it might at least be designed with something of architectural significance that future conservationists will be keen to preserve and that we railway enthusiasts and modellers will be keen to emulate?
