The forager Resident, Frome

Country Life Every Week - - Luxury News -

Situated on what must be one of the prettiest roads in Somerset, Paul Street in Frome, Resident sells a mixture of Scandinavian wares and local artisan-made goods. After starting it as a pop-up in a shipping container in Brixton, owner James Borley quit his PR job in the architecture industry to open up a permanent store in Frome in 2016. ‘The overall ethos behind what we do is to promote and showcase good, simple, essential design across homeware, clothing and accessories,’ he explains. See the raw organic ceramics of local artist Kate Cooke—her black and washed-out white glazed plates are a stylish addition to the dinner table (from £15)—and the jaunty illustrations by Eleanor Hardiman depicting waxy palms and tropical plants. Further finds include a bohemia reed basket (£20) and the Meraki diffuser imbued with the scent of a Scandinavian garden (£17.50). Put a spring in your step with the Selected Femme rose-pink sneakers (£90) (01373 673118; www.residentstore.co.uk)
