IENCLOSE here­with a pho­to­graph of the prim­i­tive form of merry-go-round to be seen at most hill fairs in North­ern In­dia. It is a roughly made minia­ture great wheel, to which are at­tached four small cars sim­i­lar to the one seen in the pho­to­graph. It is pro­pelled at a con­sid­er­able speed by hand, and is an ex­tremely pop­u­lar form of amuse­ment; nor is it ex­pen­sive, con­sid­er­ing that three min­utes’ undi­luted joy can be ob­tained for the small sum of a farthing.
