Braughing Old Man’s Day

Country Living (UK) - - A Month In The Country -

This annual celebration commemorates the day (2 October) 500 years ago, when Matthew Wall’s coffin was dropped on its way to his funeral, jolting him back to life. The children of Braughing, Hertfordshire, still sweep the street as bells are tolled and villagers gather around the old man’s grave.
