Happy Christmas…

Country Living (UK) - - Contents -

the sentiments can be conveyed in a number of ways – the exchange of beautifully wrapped gifts, the sharing of a carefully prepared meal, an evening of celebratory carol singing – but one of the most traditional ways of acknowledging the season has been through sending cards to friends and family. I love receiving them, partly as a reminder of the people I care about and also because I like to decorate my home with them: my daughters laugh at my habit of grouping cards to correspond with the colour scheme of each room. In this issue, we document the history behind the custom, as well as celebrating all the other favourite traditions, from gathering greenery to pulling crackers. And if you are looking for unique ideas for presents, decorations, cards and giftwrap, join us at the Country Living Christmas Fair – always a wonderful day out (see pages 30 and 121 for more details). May I take this opportunity, on behalf of all the team at Country Living, to wish you a very merry Christmas!
