A garden room…

-

...is such an enticing idea. For me, it would be a summerhouse at the end of the garden that doubled up as a place to read and take tea with friends, but which also had a bed so I could sneak out there to sleep on summer nights. A small stove to warm it in winter and somewhere to plug in a kettle would make it complete – and the perfect place to escape the everyday. See our feature on page 64 for plenty of inspiration and ideas on how you might create your own garden retreat. This is the month when you can take a little time off from working on your plot to enjoy the fruits of your labours and dream about how fabulous your garden will be next year. I love the feature on plant finders Bleddyn and Sue Wynnjones (page 126), who stock their nursery at Crûg Farm Plants in North Wales with all sorts of unusual species. I, for one, shall certainly be acquiring one or two pots of their perennial angelica. Finally, don’t miss your opportunity to spend a day with me and some of the Country Living team at Yeo Valley farm in Somerset (see page 53). You can watch the traditional Mendips Ploughing Match, enjoy a delicious harvest lunch and listen to a talk from CL columnist Imogen Green about the trials and tribulations of finding love in the countryside. We would love you to join us.
