Country Living (UK) - - A Month In The Country -

A more unusual part of May Day celebrations, Jack in the Green is a folklore figure who dons a costume of head-to-toe foliage. In Ilfracombe in Devon, revellers form a clapping circle around him before stripping him of his leafy coverings to welcome the ‘spirit of summer’.
