Come and stay at the Country Living Hotels

Country Living (UK) - - The Good Life -

I WAS ASKED RECENTLY why we’d decided to create the Country Living Hotels, and the response that sprang to mind was, “Well, why wouldn’t we?!” For they give us the perfect opportunity to bring the magazine to life, offering visitors the chance to sink back into the chairs they’ve seen in our pages, smell the flowers that appear in our stunning photography and eat seasonal food inspired by our features. In launching the Country Living Hotels, we’re putting everything we’ve learned about relaxed country-style charm and hospitality to good use.

Proudly partnering with Coast & Country, our aim, we decided, was to create an atmosphere in which to escape the everyday, where we could bring the country to the city, blending the best of both worlds. As two of Britain’s most beautiful destinations, surrounded by incredible countryside, Bath and Harrogate seemed obvious choices. They feature the sort of architecture that lends itself to our look – in Bath, on top of a hill overlooking the city and wooded countryside, sits the Country Living Lansdown Grove Hotel, stone-built with a classic Regency façade in keeping with the area. For Harrogate, the Country Living St George Hotel is an Edwardian mansion a stone’s throw from tea rooms and spas.

Opening at the end of May (Bath) and then July (Harrogate), the hotels will allow visitors to stay in an oasis of calm, yet are near the high-street centres, making them the perfect base from which to explore. Handily, the Country Living St George Hotel is opposite the venue for the Country Living Christmas Fair, and we’ll be hosting a series of events at both hotels, starting with our June Build-abusiness Day in Bath (for details on how to book, see page 60).

Inside, we’ve thought about every detail, so you’ll sleep under duvets chosen by the CL team (we all enjoyed the ‘snuggle test’ on a snowy day in February), see images from the magazine hung on your bedroom walls, be served a locally sourced menu curated by us and brought to you by staff wearing the uniforms we’ve chosen. With the expert influence of everyone at Coast & Country, our hotels have become the sort of places we’d all love to stay in. We hope you will too.
