Herring Queen Festival

Country Living (UK) - - A Month In The Country -

Now in its 74th year, the Eyemouth Herring Queen Festival in Berwickshire celebrates the bounty of the sea and commemorates the 1881 disaster when 23 fishing boats were lost. Adorned in lavish costumes, the Queen and her attendants sail into the harbour before disembarking and taking part in a parade through the town, which ends in a crowning ceremony.
