Country Smallholding to run Speakers’ Corner at Spring Festival
Country Smallholding has been invited to run the popular Speakers’ Corner at the biggest dedicated smallholding show of the year.
A team of our experts will be giving presentations on a range of smallholding topics at The Spring Festival, run by the The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
There will also be Question Time sessions each day at which teams of panellists will field questions from the audience.
Adam Willcox and Andy Richards will be introducing the speakers at the two-day event at the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells on May 21 and 22.
Adam and Andy will also be giving a presentation, describing their move to a smallholding in Snowdonia and their ‘good life journey’. They have become passionate advocates of the self-sufficient lifestyle and have been interviewed on TV and radio.
Veteran smallholders Tim and Dot Tyne, also from Wales, will also be giving presentations each day and selling copies of their new book
Publishers Home Farmer say: “This is the most comprehensive guide to living off the land since John Seymour’s seminal The Complete Book of SelfSufficiency, published 40 years ago.”
The Saturday programme will start with an introduction to beekeeping by Jules Moore, who runs courses at Mumbleys Farm in Gloucestershire.
Charlotte Popescu, a prolific author of books for henkeepers, will later talk about buying and keeping chickens.
At midday on the Sunday, another big name in the smallholding world, Liz Shankland, will be giving a
presentation about pig keeping. Liz is author of the Haynes Smallholding Manual.
In the afternoon, another CS writer, Charles Dowding, will talk about organic growing and the ‘no-dig’ method. Finally, Sally Morgan, who runs courses at her organic smallholding in Somerset, will talk about her new book, Living on One Acre.
Country Smallholding editor Simon McEwan said: “We are delighted to be running Speakers’ Corner at this major show and are excited about the programme we have put together. We think there will be something for everyone.
“This is a fabulous, friendly show in a beautiful location. It draws huge crowds, there is livestock galore and there are superb arena events all weekend. We do hope CS readers will join us there.”
