Call for pressure on pesticides
A report has revealed that school children’s fruit and veg contains residues of 123 pesticides. Pesticide Action Network UK says this is more than is found in mainstream produce on supermarket shelves. It calls for pressure on the Government to invest in child health and create a better public procurement policy.

Microplastic contamination has been found in tap water in countries around the world, leading to calls for urgent research on the implications for health. The findings were made by scientists in an investigation by Orb Media. Overall, 83% of the samples were contaminated with plastic fibres.
Advance of robots
Agriculture is a leading adopter of robot technology, according to a report. Market research company IDTechEx said agriculture is being ‘quietly reformed’ by new robotics. The report considers the evolution and the long-term impact of autonomous mobility in farm vehicles.
Sheep race cancelled
A festival has cancelled a race using real sheep after a petition forced organisers to change the event. Llandovery Sheep Festival in Carmarthenshire was billed as ‘the best woolly fun you’ll have this year’. But a petition opposing the race attracted more than 60,000 signatures.
