Why organic is best

Country Smallholding - - Feature Resilient Growing -

Actually, this wasn’t picked up much by the press at the time, but it should have been. A relatively recent independent study by the European Parliament showed that organic farming practices can have a positive impact on human health. Whilst the authors pointed out that these were early results, the study highlighted many benefits of organic over none across the board with for example a higher level of omega-3 fatty acids in milk and meat because of a higher grass, clover and forage-based diet. From a gardener’s perspective, organic veg crops were also shown to be higher in antioxidants, with fewer pesticides and toxic heavy metals (amongst other benefits).
