Being together

Finding a smallholding can be costly, but one option is for family members to pool their resources, says Martyn Buck of The Smallholding Centre

Country Smallholding - - Feature Property -

Have you dreamed about leaving the city and taking on your own smallholding? Perhaps you’d simply like to be able to own more land but, on your own, you don’t have the funds. Have you and your family ever thought about upping sticks and pooling resources to make that a possibility, whether to a smallholding with two houses on it, or one with a large house that can be split, or even one with an outbuilding crying out for conversion to more accommodation. There could be numerous benefits in pooling resources and making a move to one property as an extended family. Plus of course, the extended family provides more hands and more skills. Joining together with another generation of your family might be a great way to make a dream a reality.
