8SHUTLINGSLOE AND TEGG’S NOSE
Having crossed the wild moorlands of Staffordshire, you’re rewarded with these splendid landmarks on Stage 18. At 1660ft Shutlingsloe is the highest point on the trail and the views are glorious in all directions. A little later, after passing through Macclesfield Forest, you climb the great prow of Tegg’s Nose (meaning sheep’s nose), whose quarried summit is testament to the clash of landscape and industry that this trail adores.
