Jatra Ankle Pants

-

RRP £60 Target price £50 Conservative dressers, avert your eyes now. Lovers of loud and flamboyant attire, welcome; you will be at home here. Available in bright red or aquamarine blue with a Bhutan es einspired pattern, the J at ra s–named after the Nepali word for festival – will certainly liven up the countryside. But what about the practical stuff? The leg measures 29” along the inseam, which makes these a very slight crop for the average-sized lady or about normal length for the slightly shorter-thanaverage walker. The tailoring is a flattering slim fit but there’s a ‘gusseted crotch’, which means there’s room to spare around the groin area. I found them comfy for casual strolling, but the leg pulls in tight around the calf and starts to feel slightly uncomfortable over time. There’s no weatherproofing technology, but being very lightweight they dry quickly and don’t overheat too much. The two main pockets aren’t zippable, but there is a tiny security pocket for car keys or coins. RB
