Country Walking Magazine (UK) - - Buying Guide | Walking Trousers -

RRP £130 Target price £110

For the step up in price at this end of the market, Haglöfs give you a rugged and durable piece of kit equipped for serious outdoor adventure. The Mid II Flexes use a four-way stretch fabric and an elasticated waistband, which allows a great range of movement and makes them very comfy. There are handwarmer pockets as well as zippered cargo pockets, and the ankles can be expanded by a zip adjustment. Best of all is the weatherproofing: the DWR finish fended off a heavy shower during my Exmoor jaunt, and kept out a strong wind too. These are mountain-ready trousers, sure to keep you warm and dry in everything except prolonged heavy rain. No vent zips, but the Climatic polyamide fabric is highly breathable and dries quickly. Slightly heavier than the other trousers on test, the Mid II Flexes are made of properly strong stuff and will get you through years of walking. How much they deserve their price tag will depend on how often you put them through their paces.
