RRP £65 Target Price £56 The Nexus is a fleece I felt confident reaching for on almost any occasion: whether just nipping down to the pub on a cool spring evening or striking out early for the top of Snowdon. A lightweight hoody, it’s a versatile mid layer that’s warm enough to wear comfortably in the cooler seasons and on summer jaunts in the high cools of the mountains. A grid of fuzzy ovals on the inside do the insulating bit, while the spaces in between give perspiration a better chance of making a quick escape (or to put it another way, improve the ‘breathability’). This Thermic fleece material also proved wonderfully stretchy, not chafing or pinching when I needed to reach and twist. While snug and covering your neck when zipped up, the hood (which is elasticated around the opening), is not so tightly fitted as the Paramo Ostro. And on the whole, the fit is looser than Vaude’s Boe. Two handwarmer pockets add to the more casual feel of this fleece. Yet it’s also got a chunky, durable zip that reminds us this jacket is more than capable of withstanding the rough and tumble of life outdoors. PT
