GETTING HERE

Roadside parking spaces at Ribblehead (on the B6255) are 15 minute’s drive from A65 at Ingleton. The Northern Dalesman 830 bus from Richmond/Preston stops outside the Station Inn ( www.prestonbus.co.uk). Ribblehead Station is served by trains from Leeds/Carlisle ( www.northernra­ilway.co.uk).

WHERE TO EAT

Light refreshmen­ts are available from the Ribblehead Station Visitor Centre. For a main meal, try Ribblehead’s Station Inn (01524 241274; www.stationinn­ribblehead.co.uk). Pub classics, like Hunter’s Chicken and Station Pie, cost from £10.45.

Make time to visit the Ribblehead Station Visitor Centre. Set up by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Trust, it tells the story of the line from its origins to its restoratio­n.
