What was the vision?

The overriding aim behind Milton Keynes was to build a true city: housing, infrastructure, roads, schools, a railway station, a hospital, green parks and a network of cycle ways. A key driver was to avoid some of the mistakes of the garden cities, including damage to the countryside and inconvenient locations with insufficient transport links. The project attracted some of the best town planners, designers and architects in the world.
