Bell-ringing in Devon is different to the rest of the UK. It’s more rhythmical and musical. The ringers don’t have to learn algorithmic patterns off by heart and the bells don’t have to change place each time they strike. Devon ringers feel their art has been ignored, regarded by many as ‘backward’ and parochial. Join presenter Helen Marks as she explores the history of this distinct style.
