NATURAL HISTORIES: BEAVER

Countryfile Magazine - - Lazy Days -

Brett Westwood goes to a secret location in Devon to spend the night watching for the beavers that now live there, in the wild, as part of a new trial of their effect on the landscape. They are seen as potential green engineers, able to raise water levels and influence the landscape in a beneficial way. The beaver has vanished from our culture because we extinguished it 600 years ago, but conservationists are now trying out a new rapprochement with this resilient and endearing animal, which will test our political and cultural will.
